The Stories

Each work of art is connected to a specific story. These stories are revealed to me through quick flashes of images, which are later translated into words. I have surprisingly found that most of the stories are in fact, interconnected. Some of the figures within one drawing would manifest in one or two other drawings. In certain cases, there appeared to be a time lapse showing some of the figures at different stages of development, progressing in age. In one instance, there were many different perspectives of one story being told by different voices.

After the collection of art was completed, I felt intuitively called to piece the drawings together like a puzzle to better understand the meaning. By doing so, I felt more confident to reveal the stories connected to the images. The stories associated with this project are still in the process of being finalized and will be added to the book, “A Meditation on Humanity: Vol. 1 The Transatlantic Slave Trade”.
