“Our ancestors do not seek to be worshiped or idolized. They are not deities, but simply members of our extended family. Much like our elders on the Earth plane, it is wise to honor and acknowledge them as a crucial guiding force within our lives. ”
About the Project
In this ever-changing world, where it seems that we are constantly at odds with ourselves and with our modern society, how can we best gauge our own personal sense of freedom? What is it that speaks into the very depths of our being and makes it perfectly clear that we are, in fact, free? Free to be just as we are. Free to feel the fullness of our emotions. Free to express our thoughts and observations about life.
I believe that true freedom will never come from the external validation of another but must only come from the internal validation of our awakening hearts. If our hearts are crying out to be healed and to be acknowledged, how can we satisfy this deep yearning by looking to another whose heart is just as hungry for love and acceptance as our own?
Freedom means acknowledging how interconnected we are, not only through our love but through our pain. It means seeing ourselves in the eyes of another, not only through our own sense of power and personal esteem but through our heartbreaks and the deep wounding that we all share. Freedom is not about releasing ourselves from something or someone. It is about recognizing that we are a part of everything and everyone. This concept of freedom is something that we will explore further throughout this book.
A “Meditation on Humanity: Vol. 1 The Transatlantic Slave Trade”, is the first book of The Meditation on Humanity collection. The inspiration to create this book came to fruition due to the desire to promote the spiritual healing of intergenerational trauma connected to the Transatlantic Slave Trade. It is, in fact, a sacred prayer meant to honor the ancestors and to unite and inspire future generations.
The scientific community has made significant strides in the studies of intergenerational trauma and how it directly impacts the way our bodies read DNA. It does not change the DNA sequence but it does impact the molecular structure of it. Although, the the field of epigenetics is still relatively new, we are now beginning to understand how the trauma of our ancestors influence us in a very real and complex way, making us more prone to mental and physical illnesses, as well as harmful behavioral patterns and conditioning. Scientific research has demonstrated that the epigenetic effects of trauma can be reversed so that they are not passed down to future generations.
With this understanding, it is so important that our children have a safe space to feel the fullness of their emotions and to face a painful history in a way that will be empowering and beneficial to their inner development. The illustrations, stories, and meditations provided within the book are meant to assist the reader with living a more heart-centered and authentic existence, to help them to understand the interconnectedness of all human beings upon this beautiful planet, and to challenge them to view a familiar history from an unfamiliar lens.
It is time to have an unfiltered and honest discussion regarding the cultural wound of racism, xenophobia, and self-hatred, which plagues the body of America and many other parts of the world. These wounds, directly and indirectly, impact people of all colors and backgrounds who must cope with the continuous trauma of this established system. This painful seed has been deeply embedded within the psyche of humanity, and I believe that it must be uprooted by re-conditioning the mind and spiritually recalibrating the heart of humankind.
The actual institution of slavery is still being implemented all over the world. You can find fragments of it in almost every major institution and influential construct within our modern society. It has taken a variety of forms and names, becoming even more convoluted and expansive than it ever was before. This force is an overwhelming shadow that follows us, and there is no way to change this shadow. However, we can change the form which produces it. By manipulating the form of ourselves, I believe that we can change the shadow which shapes our current reality.
A long procession of souls has carried the heavy weight of this bleeding wound, and it will take many more generations to heal and release it. However, I believe that we can walk the journey to healing our family lineage by proactively healing ourselves and blessing the hearts and minds of our children. We can speak words of love and encouragement to ourselves, our families, and our communities. We can hold each other up to the warmth of light, so we can remember who we truly are.
It is up to us to affirm our place in this world without fear of consequence. We must not seek to be seen. We must be willing to see the truth of ourselves. We must not scream to be heard. We must meditate upon the cry of our broken hearts, which yearns for us to embrace it. The true voice of the heart knows no fear. It lives in a state of ease and flow. It needs no permission to live freely and joyously. We must allow our actions to speak the truth of our souls and not the limitations that are perceived upon the thin surface of our reality.
The ancestors speak to us all. It is up to us to listen and to breathe in this sacred wisdom. They communicate through us, and we cannot escape the power of that voice. We share their trauma and their pain, their love and their dreams. At this crucial point in humanity’s timeline, they have gifted a great medicine to assist us in our evolution and growth. The warmth of their enduring light nurtures and awakens the sleeping seeds of our future generations. We are blessed to have them walking with us, guiding our footsteps throughout this unfolding journey of life.
The creation of this book has manifested from visions I received through my own meditative practice. It is important to note that I did not summon the dead in any way to produce the content within these pages. I have immense respect for the dead and the realm of spirit, and I do not claim to speak for them. I was guided to share this information through prayer. I am sharing this information in the way in which I have interpreted it. In everything that is produced, I aim to come from a place of love and compassion for all beings.
Initially, I was hesitant about moving forward with this creation because of the deeply painful and intense energy related to the subject matter. Furthermore, I have no background in psychology or training in healing intergenerational trauma. I am in no way a specialist in the field. I am a dreamer and the messenger of my own heart. This creative project is simply my interpretation of visions that have been revealed to me through my own meditative practice, and I felt called to share them.
The illustrations within this book are an integral part of the storytelling. The inspiration to create them came to me as quick flashes of images that were later pieced together like a puzzle within my mind’s eye. I surprisingly found that most of the images revealed to me were interconnected. Figures present within one drawing would manifest in one or two other drawings. In some cases, there appeared to be a time lapse showing some of the figures at different stages of development, progressing in age. While in another incidence, there were various perspectives of one story being told by different people. There are two images which were inspired by artwork from the Victorian era. The intention behind reconstructing these images and the subject matter expressed through them was to adjust the internal memory associated with the actual images and ultimately transform them into visual prayers.
This book will not speak to all who read it. We exist in a world of polarities, a world of black and white. Humanity has existed in this way for so many ages that it is easy to believe that this is our natural state of being. However, if we look closer, we will find that there are many shades of grey all around us. It takes some inspired effort to find it, but it is undoubtedly there. The mass conditioning of mental slavery will have one believe that they are separate from the whole, but this could not be further from the truth.
Humanity, regardless of distance, nationality, or creed, is still a tribe. There is only one race on this planet. It is humankind. We have the capacity to evolve together or to isolate ourselves into a state of annihilation. It is ultimately our choice. I believe that as a collective, we need each other to survive and thrive upon this planet. Our loving Mother Earth reflects the heart of humanity, and currently, that heart is breaking within us. Because of the pain and anger which permeates within our collective, there are some who do not want or cannot see a peaceful resolution in humanity's future, and that is okay. For the journey of the soul is an expansive one, and I believe that all beings are in perfect alignment with their higher truth.
I have always felt that the compass of humanity points towards a unified consciousness based on love. In my experiences with the realm of spirit, there is no judgment, only love. Humanity holds the weight of judgment tightly within its grasp, and that judgment is what is ultimately breaking our own hearts. It is the fear we place upon ourselves, not the fear of our extinction, but the fear in the power of our interconnectedness. My prayer is that the content within this book will spark a continuous dialogue within the global community and allow people to feel more comfortable with sharing their own stories across cultural lines. May these messages breathe life into the beating hearts of the generations to come. This is my humble attempt to transform our internal memory of the past so we can create a more promising future for our children. I believe that by doing so, we can open a doorway into a new realm of infinite possibilities for spiritual healing and human expansion.
